Getting started
”Try Demo Mode”
Don’t have a Home Assistant install? Tap Try Demo Mode during setup to explore Halo with sample data. You can connect to your real Home Assistant later from Settings → Connection.
Connecting to your Home Assistant
- In Home Assistant, go to your Profile → Security → Long-Lived Access Tokens and create a token. Copy it.
- Open Halo → Settings → Connection → Add Profile.
- Enter your Home Assistant URL (e.g.
http://homeassistant.local:8123or your Nabu Casa URL) and paste the token. - Halo will connect and pull in your entities.
iCloud sync between iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Halo uses iCloud to keep your connection profile, dashboards, and settings in sync across your devices. Make sure you’re signed into the same Apple ID and that iCloud Drive is enabled.
Common issues
“Cannot connect to Home Assistant”
- Check the URL is reachable from your device’s current network. If you’re using a local-only URL (e.g.
http://homeassistant.local), you need to be on the same Wi-Fi as your Home Assistant. - Verify the token is still valid in Home Assistant → Profile → Long-Lived Access Tokens.
- Try toggling between local and remote URLs in Settings → Connection.
“Tiles aren’t showing up after iCloud sync”
- Open the app on the source device first, wait 30 seconds for the sync to push, then open Halo on the new device.
- Dashboards sync as a single “view” — check Settings → iCloud Sync to see what’s been imported.
“Face ID isn’t prompting before arming the alarm”
- Make sure Face ID is enabled for Halo: iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Other Apps → Halo.

PRO works across iPhone, iPad, and Mac when signed into the same Apple ID, and is restorable via the Restore Purchases button in Settings.
